For one of Australia's best showcases of native Aussie animals, buy your tickets to Healesville Sanctuary located 1 hour to the east of Melbourne CBD. Healesville Sanctuary, nestled in the lovely Yarra Valley, offers a closer and more intimate look at many animals than your traditional zoo - set amongst amazing, green surroundings, there's a huge range of Australian fauna and flora to witness here; pat and feed emus and kangaroos, walk inside the excellent bird enclosure and have them land on your shoulders, and even meet some of the newly born baby animals! All the major Australian species are covered here, including platypus, dingoes, wombats, koalas and much more, and many are showcased during the daily keeper presentations where you'll be able to gain further insight into each amazing creature.

Highlighted by the excellent Birds of Prey show, there's plenty to do at Healesville Sanctuary to keep you occupied for a full day, and it's a destination both families with kids and international visitors are sure to love. Ideal both as a must-visit if you're staying in the Yarra Valley or for a day trip from Melbourne, Healesville Sanctuary is ideal for those wanting a break from the traditional zoo experience and who want to get far more "hands-on" with their wildlife. If you're wanting to see one of Australia's top native-wildlife-oriented attractions, then book your tickets to Healesville Sanctuary online today.

Great experience, kids absolutely loved it. The bird show is a must see and not to be missed. Good picnic spots across the sanctuary. Staff was super courteous. The Dino exhibits was a new thing to see, apparently its only there for a limited time period.

We took 3 of our grandchildren to the Sanctuary on a warmish but not overly hot day

We took 3 of our grandchildren to the Sanctuary on a warmish but not overly hot day. We were bitterly disappointed at the small number of animals on display. We had visited the Sanctuary on previous occasions and can all remember seeing lots of Australian animals. There were many staff and wonderful volunteers around but very few animals which was extremely disappointing.

Clean area

Clean area, helpful staff and a great fun day out for the whole family. Will definitely be coming back! Animals were so cute! The cafe was great to have a snack/lunch and coffee too then keep strolling around the sanctuary. Thanks for the experience we will be back!

Had the most amazing day at Healesville from the minute I arrived to when I left

Had the most amazing day at Healesville from the minute I arrived to when I left. The keeper talks were really informative and no question was left unanswered, they really added to the day I had. I would definitely recommend a visit here to see all the indigenous animals of Australia. What a great day!

We went to the Healesville Sanctuary on a very rainy day

We went to the Healesville Sanctuary on a very rainy day. This did not spoil our experience though. There were plenty of Australian native animals to see and learn about. For an extra cost, you can take part in encounters with the animals. The platypus display was our favourite exhibit, and we watched these playful delightful creatures for ages. The Spirit of the Sky show runs twice a day and must not be missed, showcasing some of the birds found only in Australia. The sanctuary is well laid out, and there is plenty of signage to find the animals that you would like to see and the amenities. Families, couples, solo travellers and overseas visitors would all enjoy a day out here. There is something for everyone.

It was a pleasant day with family at Healesville Sanctuary

It was a pleasant day with family at Healesville Sanctuary, thanks to Experience Oz for providing tickets at reasonable prices, easy to redeem and hassle free. We enjoyed a lot there. I strongly recommend Experience Oz to buy tickets for most of Melbourne's tourist attractions. Thank you!

There is nothing I can say that is wrong with this Zoo/Sanctuary
Graeme Wright 3 years ago

There is nothing I can say that is wrong with this Zoo/Sanctuary. The food options are on point. The animals are abundant and happy. The sanctuary itself is large, lush and natural. I would consider this experience ideal for both young children and adults alike. A picnic/BBQ is an option with provided facilities or the option to dine in at either the "Sanctuary Harvest" or Candlebark Cafe. The food options range from a cooked meal/lunch or a simple sandwich with many drinks options. We also did the "not included in general entrance" close encounters (we chose the Kangaroo close-up) and our friend also did a close-up with a Wombat (book more than a day ahead for these as they fill up quickly a day before and definitely on the day). We loved the experience (though quite short at less than 20 mins) but still very enjoyable at the price (between $12 and $20). Overall, we actually did not have enough time to see everything in 1 day and we missed most of the presentations except the dingoes. So in other words, when you go here, there will be MORE than you can do and see in 1 day meaning there is return possibility. Especially if you take pictures and linger at your favourite spots.

Kids are free on weekends, Victorian public holidays and Victorian government school holidays!
